One thing to know about me is I love putting my own look together for events. I’ve never hired a stylist (yet!) for an event. For this extra special grand opening of Tao LA, Beauty & Essex LA, Avenue LA and The Dream Hotel LA, I wanted a glamorous look. I found this amazing vintage dress and loved how sheer it is. Of course with sheer is the question of what to put underneath. I found this simple black bralette and these shorts that were in my closet. I wanted the high brief look, but actually found these shorts were kind of amazing (I had my tailor adjust the cut of the leg to give me the look I was going for). I placed a black, leather Hermes belt at the line of the shorts for a smooth look. One thing I realized after seeing the photos, was that I think it would have looked better to have a full piece undergarment on instead of a separate top and bottom (a good learning for next time and maybe where it might have been beneficial to have a stylist!). For jewelry, I experimented a little. I envisioned pairing this look with a thick, gold choker, but I couldn’t find one. Instead, I bought two of these gold chokers and created the thick choker look myself. Free People has some of the best affordable costume jewelry that looks high quality. I am also absolutely obsessed with my gold choker from Electric Picks…I pretty much wear it every day and it has that look that can shift from day to night. I’m the type of girl who pretty much likes to do everything myself and you save so much money doing it this way. Not only did I put together this outfit, but I also styled my own hair and makeup for this event. Fun fact: I originally moved to New York as a makeup artist — this is something that I actually really enjoy doing!
