MY GO TO ORDER’S WHEN EATING OUT IN NYC

MY GO TO ORDER’S WHEN EATING OUT IN NYC

Here is a look inside how I order plant based in New York City in both vegan/vegetarian restaurants and non-exclusively vegan/vegetarian restaurants.

Here are some quick tips when ordering out and how not to be an annoying vegan : )

1.  No need to announce you’re vegan to everyone, pull your server aside and use some of my tips and go-to orders to make it easy.

2. Ask the server if they offer any vegan dishes or have a vegan menu.

3. Always confirm the dressing and/or sauce is dairy free BEFORE ordering.

4. Ask for light dressing or dressing on the side (taste before you dress your salad).

5. If all else fails, select a few vegan sides and ask the server to put all of your sides on one dinner plate as your entree.

  5. Melissa,
Thank you SO SO much for this. It’s super helpful!! Question though, for all the vegan restaurants is there a reason why you only chose certain dishes (ie: Avant Garden) ? aren’t all the dishes fair game since they are vegan, or is that not the case when food combining? I love everything at avant- garden but would love to know why you only chose those specific dishes as well as at ABCV? Please let me know thank you!!
